Position Description: 

A Payment Sales Engineer you combine technical expertise with sales skills to support and drive the technical sales of payment solutions. The architecture of these systems can be complicated, so it takes someone with advanced knowledge to come up with the correct solution, to explain systems, specifications, and processes to non-technical people, and to sell to them. You'll be surrounded by driven salespeople who are super passionate about their job, competitive in nature, and who will stop at nothing to achieve, and often exceed their quotas. 

We are seeking a Payment Sales Engineer who help drive the growth of our Payments products. This role is crucial for bridging the gap between technical product development and customer needs, ensuring that payment solutions are effectively positioned and sold. You will support our efforts to make it even easier for our merchants to adopt our payments solutions and grow their business. You have a deep understanding of the payment industry and have a proven track record technical sales to various tiers of companies. You are a thought leader, pioneer and are a passionate individual who loves working in a dynamic, ambiguous, and fast paced environment in which managing multiple projects and priorities is the norm.

Reports To: GM Payments

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven work experience as a Sales Engineer 3-5 years
  • Proven track record selling complex enterprise solutions
  • Ability to forge strong, long-lasting relationships with senior executives
  • Ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation and creativity skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent, preferably with a numeracy base


What You will Do and Be Responsible For

  • Identify potential customers and develop relationships with them.
  • Understand clients' technical needs and requirements.
  • Provide clients with solutions that meet their needs.
  • Keep abreast of new products and technologies and effectively communicate their benefits to potential customers.
  • Work closely with other sales team members, such as account managers and sales executives, to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Communicate the features and benefits of your company's products or services to potential customers.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems that may arise during the sales process.
  • Supporting sales executives with solution selling into prospect account base
  • Partnering with sales executives to plan, prepare and execute on strategic deals in complex sales cycles
  • Successfully match customer pain/requirements to proposed solutions
  • Create and deliver powerful presentations and demos that clearly communicate the uniqueness of the value proposition
  • Manage all technical aspects of RFP / RFI responses
  • Effectively communicate client needs to the R&D teams for future product enhancements
  • Collect and document competitive intelligence

Interview #1: Phone Screen with Talent Acquisition team
Interview #2: Video interview with a few key Payment Sales team members
Interview #3: Video interview with Payments GM (Hiring Manager) and Payments Sr. Director of Sales



The base salary range for this position is $110,000- $120,000 CAD (Canada) or $100,000-110,000 USD (US) per year commensurate with work location, experience, skills, certifications, education, and prior accomplishments. The position may be eligible for additional compensation, including a bonus, commission and/or equity, as applicable.
