The Payer Enrollment Specialist is responsible for credentialing physicians and allied health providers in a hospital system. This role ensures accurate and timely submissions of provider applications and credentials to various government agencies and managed care organizations.
Responsibilities
- Complete and review provider applications with accuracy, addressing discrepancies and gathering necessary information from providers.
- Ensure all re-appointments and re-credentials are submitted on time, verify that licenses are current, and maintain accurate internal files, including CAQH database updates.
- Communicate regularly with hospital administration, billing departments, and office managers to resolve any issues related to provider applications.
- Perform follow-up on credentialing statuses with various agencies.
- Handle additional administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Some College Education Preferred
- 5+ years of experience in payer enrollment within a hospital or health system.
- Strong knowledge of CAQH.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Experience with credentialing systems such as Cactus or Symplr.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Previous experience working in a hospital setting (Non-clinical roles only).
- Prior experience with Cactus/Symplr and CAQH databases.
