Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:
As the Patternmaker Grader 2, you will be responsible for transitioning patterns from development to production and producing accurate graded production patterns. You will have the opportunity to work on multiple calendars and product categories in a fast-paced environment, and your cross-functional partnership with Designers, Sample Sewers, Product Developers, and Factory partners will ensure our sized products maintain design integrity.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver design center and is expected to be performed on-location.
Meet Your Future Team:
The Pattern Grading Team transitions patterns from development to production and produces accurate graded production patterns. Through collaboration and partnership with our internal product development teams and our external factory partners, the team is responsible for ensuring our final sized products maintain integrity of design, function and production accuracy developed on the base size.
If you were the Patternmaker Grader 2 now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Interpreting design intent to create prototype, sample and production patterns, ensuring that methods and documentation are consistent with known factory methods and processes
- Grading production patterns, ensuring that all grading of like products and documentation are consistent and completed following development and production schedules
- Ensuring that grading formulas on all finished garment measurement specifications and templates are accurate and reproducible in garment form
- Participating in graded size run checks to ensure grading maintains integrity of design, function and production accuracy developed on the base size
- Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
- Providing patterning and grading support to both direct and co-development with our manufacturing partners
- Using 3D tools to assist with patterning, grading and fit review
- Receiving advanced grading and patternmaking training and CLO3D workshops
- Supporting team objectives related to timeline, costs and product solutions that meet business goals
Are you our next Patternmaker Grader 2?
- Three (3)+ years’ production patternmaking and grading experience, preferably in the outdoor industry
- Knowledge of garment construction, with a specialty in grading
- Completion of secondary school and post secondary program/courses in design/patternmaking
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator and CAD system
- You have strong written and spoken communications skills
- Excellent attention to detail, including accurate data entry
- You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
- Effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
- You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement
