Compensation Range:

$40.70 - $61.05 per hour, depending on experience

What You’ll Do:

In this dynamic role, you will:

  • Showcase your expertise by performing precise gross examinations and dissections of surgical specimens, ensuring every detail is captured.
  • Assist the team with the daily operations of the gross room, keeping the workflow smooth and efficient.
  • Ensure excellence by following NYSDOH, CAP, and CDC standards to provide top-notch care and compliance.
  • Collaborate and innovate with pathologists and other clinical professionals to deliver timely, accurate specimen analyses that make a difference.
  • Stay organized and efficient by maintaining accurate records, managing tools, and aiding the technical staff to ensure that the lab is always stocked with the supplies you need.

 

Position Qualifications

 Required:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or a related science with at least three years of supervised on-the-job training  OR A degree from an NCCLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant training program.
  • NYS License as a Pathologists’ Assistant

Preferred Certifications:

  • ASCP Certification as a Pathologists’ Assistant [PA(ASCP)CM].
  • Additional certifications like Certified Histological Technician, Clinical Laboratory Technician, or Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist are a bonus!

Work Environment:

  • Enjoy working in a temperature-controlled, modern facility.
  • This role involves a mix of standing, sitting, and reaching, along with the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • While there may be occasional exposure to fumes, you’ll be equipped with the best PPE to ensure your safety, including gloves, gowns, and eye protection.

  • As part of the clinical team, you will have Level 3 access to patient information, playing a pivotal role in ensuring sensitive information is handled with the utmost care and in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
