What you’ll do:As a Patent Administration Intern, your key area of responsibility will be supporting the European Intellectual Property team in managing Geotab’s growing European patent portfolio. You will assist with document management, patent records maintenance in the IP management system (Anaqua), docket coordination, and monitoring correspondence with external law firms and patent offices. You will also help prepare reports and administrative summaries, perform data entry and quality checks, and contribute to ad hoc administrative projects and process improvements.
To be successful in this role you will be a detail-oriented and organized self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. In addition, the successful candidate will bring a genuine interest in intellectual property or legal administration and the adaptability to quickly learn new software platforms within a collaborative global team environment.
How you’ll make an impact:- Support the administration of European and International patent matters throughout the patent lifecycle.
- Assist with maintaining accurate patent records in the IP management system (Anaqua).
- Prepare, organize and upload patent-related documentation.
- Monitor correspondence from external law firms and patent offices.
- Assist with filing and organizing electronic records and documentation.
- Help prepare reports, spreadsheets and administrative summaries.
- Perform data entry and quality checks to ensure portfolio accuracy.
- Assist the Intellectual Property European team with ad hoc administrative projects and process improvements.
- Assist with tracking deadlines and maintaining accurate docket information.
- Work closely with and receive direct mentorship and day-to-day coordination from the European Patent Paralegal.
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Vocational Education and Training (FP) programme (e.g., Administration and Finance or Executive/Management Assistance) or a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Office Administration, International Business, or a related discipline; students or graduates of the Industrial Property Administration (Paralegal) Course offered by the EOI and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) are encouraged to apply.
