The Role
a16z is growing and we are looking to bring on an operations specialist, overseeing all deals in the active term sheet stage for multiple funds. This role is on the front lines of our mission, managing the a16z deal process, responsible for the term sheet to close process and reporting. In this role, you will work closely with the investing team, compliance, finance, and legal teams to close deals.
We are looking for an experienced individual who is looking to make an impact by overseeing our deals in closing as well as managing special projects like the Open Source Grant project. You should love to oversee and improve our deal processes through your strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and detail-oriented oversight. We expect that you operate at the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.

This is an in-person role that requires that the individual be based in the Menlo Park or San Francisco office and be able to attend meetings in either office.
To join our team, you should be excited to:
- Ensure all deals are closed on time and follow our compliance-driven business diligence process
- Work cross-functionally with compliance, legal, finance and investing teams as the primary point of contact for all active term sheet deals
- Enforce deal diligence requirements and increment the requirements as new ones arise
- Maintain existing processes and build new processes to improve productivity, communications, and align with new compliance requirements
- Partner with the deal operations team on process/system improvements, enablement, and special projects
- Program manage special fund initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
- You have experience working at a technology company, preferably in sales operations or deal desk roles
- You have experience translating business needs into tangible processes and have scaled these processes through multiple cycles
- You thrive on setting standards and processes and are comfortable exerting judgment to enforce them
- You have a proven ability to operate autonomously, manage multiple priorities, manage through ambiguity, and execute consistently in a dynamic environment
- You are extremely responsive and thrive on getting things done with an eye for detail
- You can quickly synthesize complex information and communicate effectively to different audiences, both written and verbally
- You easily build rapport and trust with others and have a collaborative attitude with a team-first approach
- You have a desire and ability to learn about venture capital, new domains, and technologies quickly
- You are comfortable working with Salesforce CRM as well as business reporting tools
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $169,000-$197,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.
This role is eligible to participate in the a16z Carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
