We are recruiting for the position of Quarry Manager at our Parkburn Quarry located near Cromwell, Central Otago. The successful candidate will be responsible for the business and strategic planning with a focus on creating operational excellence, as they oversee and manage one or the largest alluvial quarries in Otago-Southland. With an exciting period of development on the horizon this is an opportunity not to be missed!
The opportunity
The technical nature of the sand, aggregates and chip operation, along with mobile basecourse operations and clean fill to support the rehabilitation process, makes for a diverse range of responsibilities. This position will be supported by the department manager and will involve coordinating site foreman, employees, plant resources and subcontract teams to achieve effective performance in accordance with site management plans and health and safety systems.
A strong knowledge of health and safety legislation is required and the ability to effectively manage supply chains with proven experience with budgeting and financials and the associated computer literacy. You will be a strong relationship builder and able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the overall success of the operations.
This position will have direct reports along with coordinating internal department and sub-contractor staff, this will require strong and developed people management skills.

We’re looking for someone with:
A ‘B’ or an ‘A’ Grade Quarry Managers certificate
In depth knowledge of sand, aggregates and chip processing including the ability to maintain quality along with technical compliance
Maintenance forecasting and programming experience to meet production requirements
Ability to keep focused when under pressure and deliver well considered outcomes
Excellent leadership skills, with experience in managing large teams, and internal and external stakeholder management skills
Have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication abilities along with strong systems knowledge and computing skills
A team player, with a positive nature to enjoy a hard day’s work
A successful track record with regards to health and safety
The ability to effectively manage the pricing of routine work as well as quoting for future contracts
Class 1, 2, 4 and WTR licenses essential
