Looking for a role where your technical expertise can help members make confident decisions about their financial future?
As a Paraplanner in our Financial Planning Team, you’ll support Financial Advisers with more complex advice cases, turning detailed research, tax calculations and customer information into clear, compliant recommendations. From mid-appointment activity to Suitability Reports, your work will help members plan for the moments that matter.
You’ll bring strong analytical skills, coordinate multiple adviser cases and build your career in Financial Advice, with potential routes into Adviser, Leader, Trainer or Technical Expert roles.
At Skipton, we're founded on fairness. We exist to do right by our members - and we believe that starts with doing right by our people. So whoever you are and whatever you bring, there's a place for you here and a genuine plan for where you go next.
What You’ll Do
We’re here to make our members’ money work harder. But it takes more than one kind of role to make that happen. Across our Money team, you’ll find people supporting savings, investments and financial advice, alongside the teams behind the scenes who keep things moving, spot what could work better, and help turn good ideas into practical change.
Your key responsibilites will include:
Obtaining up-to-date research, analysing and interpreting customers’ existing investments, customer information and tax calculations
Supporting the delivery of suitable advice, ensuring recommendations are robust, well-evidenced and help members achieve their financial goals
Completing mid-appointment activity on system, inputting information and preparing suitability reports in line with compliance guidelines, alongside supporting documents
Turning technical detail into clear, compliant recommendations that support good member outcomes
Co-ordinating and overseeing cases end-to-end, managing expectations and acting as an escalation point for technical or complex queries
What You’ll Need
A Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, DipPFS, or equivalent
Proven experience in a paraplanning role, with the confidence to work across a range of financial planning cases
Strong technical knowledge of holistic financial planning, investment products, financial markets and relevant compliance requirements
Experience shaping trust advice and retirement planning recommendations, turning technical detail into clear, well-evidenced outputs
Comfortable solving complex technical problems and using sound judgement to support good, fair customer outcomes.
Able to build strong working relationships with Financial Advisers and supporting teams, sharing updates, managing expectations and constructively challenging where appropriate
A proactive approach to continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to improve processes, customer journeys and ways of working across the team.

About Skipton.
Our story began in 1853 in Skipton, North Yorkshire. Today, you’ll find us across England and Scotland, from Aberdeen to Plymouth.
We help over a million members put down roots, save for what matters, and feel good about their money. As a mutual, they own us, so everything we do is for them. You'll feel that same fairness and purpose in how all 2,500 of our colleagues work together, too.
It all means that life at Skipton is more exciting than you imagine.

At Skipton we value work life balance and are proud to support hybrid and flexible working. This opportunity is for 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday on a 12 month fixed term contract and you’ll spend a minimum of 3 days a week collaborating with colleagues at our Head Office in Skipton.
We also value what everyone brings to Skipton. And we create a fair place where you can be yourself. Our colleague networks play a big role in this. They connect people with similar life experiences and make our workplace warm, friendly, inclusive and welcoming.
It’s not just our members who are important to us.
You are, too.
Lots of organisations talk about wellbeing, but they don’t always back it up. As a mutual, we put people first. And that includes the people who work here. So, when we say we care about your wellbeing, we mean it.
Wellbeing isn't just one thing. It’s about feeling good, having energy, and being able to be yourself and perform at your best. That’s why we offer help for your mental and physical health across five key areas.
What’s more, it’s help that you can actually use too - not just read about.
