This position will be an integral part of the legal department, providing support to attorneys and the department as a whole. Although the role will focus on employment law matters, the paralegal may also be asked to support litigation and disputes, intellectual property matters, and commercial and contract matters. The position will include both administrative duties, such as file and matter management, and substantive responsibilities, such as drafting position papers and preparing budgets.
Location: This role will be in-person based in our corporate offices either in New York, NY or Whippany, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Support the attorney responsible for employment law in all areas, including assisting with hiring and separations, restrictive covenants, accommodations, and wage and hour matters
- Assist with preparing, reviewing, and negotiating employment-related policies, procedures, and agreements
- Assist with investigating and responding to employee claims, preparing position papers, responding to attorney correspondence, and collecting information for contentious matters
- Support compensation and benefits matters, including attending retirement plan committee meetings and preparing minutes
Assist with managing outside counsel and overseeing budgets
- Support departmental initiatives concerning outside counsel management, budgeting, training and development, and exploration of AI
- Respond to subpoenas, garnishment orders, and other third-party matters
- Assist with other tasks and support other legal practice areas as requested
The hiring range for this position ranges from $36.89 - $45 per hour. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidates’ relevant skills and experience.
