About the Role:
The Paralegal plays a critical role in supporting attorneys by conducting thorough legal research and preparing essential legal documents to facilitate case progression. This position involves managing and organizing case files, drafting pleadings, and assisting with civil litigation matters to ensure efficient and effective legal service delivery. The Paralegal will work closely with plaintiffs and legal teams to gather and analyze information, helping to build strong cases and support trial preparation. Attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of legal procedures are essential to maintain accuracy and compliance with legal standards. Ultimately, the Paralegal contributes significantly to the success of legal proceedings by providing high-quality assistance and ensuring all documentation and research are meticulously prepared and reviewed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution.
- Proven experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw.
- Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures and legal terminology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or related field.
- Experience working in a plaintiff-side law firm or civil litigation practice.
- Familiarity with document management software and electronic filing systems.
- Certification from a recognized paralegal association (e.g., NALA, NFPA).
- Advanced skills in legal writing and document drafting.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed legal research using Westlaw and other legal databases to support case development.
- Draft, review, and organize legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery materials.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions by compiling exhibits and evidence.
- Manage case files and maintain accurate records of all legal documents and correspondence.
- Communicate effectively with clients, plaintiffs, and other parties to gather necessary information and provide updates on case status.
