This Paralegal role supports Baird’s Legal and Human Resources teams by reviewing, drafting, and analyzing policies, handbook provisions, templates, and regulatory developments that impact the firm. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, independent work that mitigates risk, enhances consistency, and frees up legal leadership capacity for more complex matters.
You will work in a highly collaborative environment, partnering with Legal, HR, and business stakeholders across the firm to interpret regulatory updates, maintain governance documentation, and help enhance firmwide policies and practices.
This position may be based in Milwaukee, WI or Louisville, KY, with a flexible work arrangement aligned to team needs.
The Impact You’ll Make:
Review and analyze policies, procedures, and templates to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and firm standards
Draft and update employee handbook provisions, policy documents, and legal templates with clear, consistent language
Monitor and summarize regulatory and legislative changes, identifying impacts to HR, Legal, and business stakeholders
Partner with Legal and HR to implement updates to policies and governance documentation
Conduct research on employment, regulatory, and compliance topics to support legal decision-making
Maintain organized policy documentation and repositories to support audit readiness
Identify and recommend improvements to standardize policy language and processes
Support risk mitigation efforts through timely and accurate documentation updates
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure policies are practical and effectively implemented
What You’ll Bring to Baird:
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years of relevant experience in a paralegal, compliance, HR, or policy-related role
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience drafting, editing, and analyzing policies, procedures, contracts, or regulatory documentation
Paralegal certificate preferred, or willingness to obtain certification within 12 months of hire
Key Skills / Qualifications:
Strong written communication and document drafting skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to interpret regulatory or legal concepts and translate them into clear, practical language
Demonstrated ability to work independently on assigned deliverables while collaborating with stakeholders
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Analytical mindset with the ability to identify risks, gaps, and inconsistencies
