Job Summary


The Paralegal will support legal professionals by conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, managing case files and contracts, implementing compliance related initiatives, and assisting with various administrative tasks. Additionally, they assist in preparation for trials, hearings, and corporate meetings, ensuring all documentation is organized and prepared in a cogent manner. The Paralegal may also assist with client communication, case investigation, and litigation discovery and contract management, contributing to the efficient function of the legal team and delivering high quality services.

 

Core Responsibilities


  • Manage regulatory licensing software application, license applications and renewals, change of information notices, filing of license applications and certificates, and reach out to external consultants as necessary.
  • Manage certain contract processes, including contract generation, execution, filing, tagging with contract identifiers, etc.
  • Assist with compliance program initiatives including, but not limited to, (i) policy creation, revisions, comments, and tracking, (ii) compliance and related committee meeting scheduling and drafting of minutes, (iii) training content development and presentations, (iv) monitoring of risk areas, (v) investigations into compliance related matters, etc.
  • Oversee litigation discovery management process, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with legal standards and deadlines.
  • Assist with corporate entity management software application, maintenance of entity organizational chart, and periodic Secretary of State or similar filings and tasks.
  • Assist with intellectual property (IP) management, including, but not limited to, (i) management of process for IP renewals and abandonment decisions and (ii) necessary coordination with external IP counsel.
  • Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Draft legal documents including routine contracts, pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
  • Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
  • Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
  • Assists attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.
  • Develops and maintains records regarding outside counsel expenditures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Requirements


  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required, bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Some related experience preferred, especially relating to (i) licensing and/or contract management and (ii) healthcare compliance programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, contracts, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
