This role will provide a comprehensive paralegal service to Ogier Hong Kong's Corporate Team, ensuring that the fee earners within the team are fully supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking work in support of a team of fee earners, meeting an agreed target chargeable hours
- Undertaking various due diligence work and searches at the request of fee-earner
- Drafting, amending and translating legal documents at the request of fee-earners
- Primary line of communication between fee-earners and clients
- Ensuring that all new client matters are accurately set up in the client accounting and database system
- Maintaining and amending client records and contact names where appropriate
- Ensuring files are kept up to date (including filing of documents, emails and correspondence) when active and that files are closed/archived once the matter is concluded following instruction from the relevant fee-earner
- Delegating certain administration tasks received from the fee-earners as per the specific team workflow model
- Providing complete assistance to all fee-earners and clients regarding various legal issues
- Leading the way with innovation, technology and tools by supporting and trialling new initiatives
- Primary contact for team-specific legal and business services queries as the embedded team support
- Screen incoming telephone calls, taking and relaying accurate messages where necessary. Where appropriate, arrange and set up conference and outgoing calls for the team
- Identifying and retrieving information necessary to support legal decision-making
- Being a team player and assist others within the team / firm whenever possible
- Taking up any urgent or ad-hoc tasks as may be allocated by the fee earners as well as working through various deadlines
- Such other duties as the firm may reasonably require from time to time
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous legal experience or relevant legal studies completed (LLB/GDL/LPC/PCLL or equivalent)
- Prior experience in offshore sector and/or assisting with US IPOs and other corporate transactions will be highly regarded
- Ability to pay attention to details and produce works with a good degree of accuracy
- Have a great sense of responsibility and have the ability to work independently and proactively
- Proficient in Word/Outlook and a working knowledge of Excel
- Administrative and document management experience will be a plus
- Have excellent organisation, administration and communication skills to undertake work at a high-level and of a confidential nature
- Ability to efficiently manage own time and prioritise workflow with reference to key deadlines
- Ability to adapt to the continual roll-out of innovative tools and processes
- Supportive of and able to demonstrate agile and flexible working
- Excellent communication skills in English, Cantonese and Mandarin (written and spoken)

Skills Required
- Previous legal experience or relevant legal studies, such as LLB, GDL, LPC, PCLL, or equivalent
