Sony Pictures Animation (“SPA”) produces a variety of animated entertainment for audiences around the world. The studio is currently in production on “Spider-Man™: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” the highly-anticipated conclusion to the Spider-Verse trilogy, and several upcoming feature films including “GOAT,” and “K-Pop: Demon Hunters”. The division is also behind the visually-groundbreaking and critically-acclaimed “The Mitchells vs. The Machines,” and the beloved monster franchise “Hotel Transylvania,” which will continue its story with the studio’s upcoming “Motel Transylvania” series.
The paralegal position will support SPA’s legal affairs group which handles production legal for both features and series. The role will primarily focus on assisting attorneys with drafting, creating and maintaining charts and databases, document preparation and other responsibilities as requested. A successful candidate will be able to work independently and in a team environment, have excellent communication skills, and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Responsibilities:

Draft and negotiate below the line agreements and SAG day player agreements

Prepare and distribute NDAs, submission releases, chain of title letters, and other production related documents

Create and maintain databases, charts and reports

Upload, organize and maintain electronic filing systems

Assist with gathering start paperwork

Other duties as requested
Requirements:

Recent law school graduate or a minimum 3 years of entertainment law firm experience

J.D. or bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate (individuals who have recently passed the California Bar will be given additional consideration)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs and Sheets

Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Proficiency with digital databases

Ability to multi-task while showing flexibility to move to new assignments as priorities change

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with individuals at any level

High level of professionalism and judgment

Experience at a talent law firm, agency or studio preferred

Must be comfortable around a service animal
The anticipated base salary for this position is $75,000-$88,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
