Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and organised Paralegal to join our Hong Kong Public Companies Practice. The successful candidate will provide essential support to our legal team, assisting with a variety of tasks related to public companies in Hong Kong. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic legal environment.
- Assist lawyers in preparing, proofreading, amending, and reviewing legal documents, including prospectuses, annual reports, and regulatory filings.
- Conduct legal research and compile data on relevant laws and regulations.
- Support the preparation and execution of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, and other corporate finance activities.
- Coordinate with clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in due diligence and verification exercises, and assist in the preparation of due diligence reports.
- Assist with legal review exercises, including the distribution of documents for review, reviewing documents, and preparing legal review reports.
- Maintain and organise case files, documents, and records.
- Provide administrative support to the legal team as needed.
- Assist with the signing and completion process of transactions.
- Conduct general legal and commercial research and prepare reports/analysis using various sources.
- Liaise with internal and external clients.
- Assist with other ad-hoc legal and non-legal tasks as requested by fee-earners in the Group, including the production of transaction bibles in both hard copy and CDs, distribution of transaction documents, and collating know-how information.
- Organise and prepare legal files.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field. A paralegal certification is an advantage.
- Prior experience as a paralegal, preferably in corporate and securities law.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
