Summary/Objective

We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive litigation paralegal to join our growing team to assist attorneys with case strategy, draft pleadings, and leverage cutting-edge eDiscovery tools to manage documents.  You will work collaboratively with attorneys, legal assistants, and clients. Key Responsibilities

  • Legal Research & Fact-Finding: Conducts legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or specialized AI legal research platforms; synthesizes case law and factual evidence into clear summaries to support case strategy and briefing.  
  • Drafting & Editing: Drafts, proofreads, cite checks, and formats legal documents such as motion and discovery shells, exhibits, trial binders, correspondence, pleadings, and agreements, ensuring strict adherence to court rules and firm style guides.
  • Trial & Hearing Preparation: Coordinates the assembly of exhibits, binders, and required documentation for depositions, hearings, trials, or client presentations.
  • Discovery Protocol & Execution: Assists attorneys in drafting discovery requests, interrogatories, requests for production, and privilege logs. Manages preservation notices, legal holds, and native ESI (Electronically Stored Information) collections.  
  •  AI & eDiscovery Management: Utilizes AI-assisted eDiscovery and document management platforms (e.g., Lexbe, Relativity, Everlaw, DISCO, Briefpoint, or their equivalent) to organize, process, and analyze large document productions and databases. Uses AI tools to accelerate early case assessments, perform document review, draft initial discovery responses, and flag privileged material under attorney supervision.  
  • Filing & Docketing: Handles state (CA), federal, tribal courts, and administrative tribunals filings, both e-filings (CM/ECF) and physical filing systems; accurately dockets court deadlines, case milestones, and hearing dates to mitigate scheduling risks. Monitors active case dockets, and downloads and distributes court documents.
  • Case Matter Management: Updates and maintains client data, matter profiles, and conflict-checking systems with a high degree of data integrity. Owns case files from inception through resolution. Coordinates complex calendars, scheduling client consultations, depositions, and internal team meetings across multiple time zones. 
  • Other duties as needed, to include administrative backup support as needed. 

Qualifications

  • A paralegal certificate or 5+ years of paralegal experience in a private law firm with an emphasis on litigation.  
  • Advanced knowledge of California and Federal district courts and filing procedures. Experience with or a demonstrated willingness to learn U.S. Appellate Courts, Tribal Courts, and Administrative tribunals and related procedure is mandatory.  
  • Advanced knowledge of legal software and E-discovery platforms such as PACER, CM/ECF/E-Filing, Sharefile, TrueFiling, Law ToolBox, RelativityOne, Nextpoint, Lexbe, or their equivalent  
  • AI experience 
  • Tech Savvy: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and PowerPoint) required.
  • High level of accuracy in document drafting, formatting, and proofreading, including citation verification and source pulling. 
  • Critical thinking skills, superior communication and organization skills, the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously, decisive judgment, high attention to detail, and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
  • Proactive, team-first attitude and a genuine interest in the work we perform and client service.
  • A deep understanding of attorney-client privilege and the necessity of keeping all firm matters strictly confidential.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a Full-Time 40 hours a week position located in Downtown San Francisco with some flexibility to work remote as business needs allow. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including a lunch hour. 

Salary Range:?$95,000 to $120,000 annually. The final salary will be commensurate with education and experience. We offer medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, STD, LTD, group term life insurance, 401(k), flexible PTO, and parental leave. The firm will also cover some public transportation costs.
