Hands of Heartland is looking for a compassionate and caring individual to work with the people we support as a Para-Educator.
What You’ll Do: Under the guidance of a certified Special Education teacher, you will work with one or more school-age students with an IEP to provide targeted academic skills, daily living skills and social/emotional support to reduce or eliminate barriers to independent adult living. Students may need assistance with self-care and/or mobility. Coaches will work with students on their IEP goals and do daily data recording on these goals. Coaches will also work with students on daily living skills in the classroom and out in the community. You will assist students in transitioning from school to adult living by providing real life experiences and helping them to be as independent as possible.
Hours: Full-time hours. Monday through Friday from 8:30a-3:30p.
Skill Set Needed for the Job: Ability to work independently in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Flexible and willing to adapt to change. Know the value of communication. Desire to support people and encourage them to reach goals. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Requirements: Must be 18 years old. Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Dependable transportation. Must be able to pass all background checks. Experience not required- we will train you!
Pay: Starting pay is $19.00 per hour.
