General Definition:
- Responsible for inspecting horses' shoes in the paddock and fixes any shoe problem under the direction of the trainer.
Essential Job Functions:
- Inspect every horse's shoes in the paddock and determine that all shoes are in compliance with current policies
- Correct or fix any shoe that has moved from its original position on the horse's hoof
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 5 years related experience and/or training; or combination.

- Must be knowledgeable of the Rules of Racing.

- Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read and communicate verbally in English.
- Written communication skills in English may also be required.
Training:
- 5 years work related experience and/or training; or combination.
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
- Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency, if applicable to perform the essential job functions
- Texas Racing Commission License (TXRC)

Skills Required
- High school diploma or GED and 5 years related experience and/or training (or combination)
