Aspinal of London are seeking a proven packaging leader to own the end-to-end lifecycle of our packaging ecosystem, from sourcing and supplier management through planning, pricing, and inventory control to online representation and seasonal changeovers. You will manage all packaging suppliers, secure best-in-market costs and lead times, ensure every product ships in the correct pack combination, and maintain optimal stock levels across all locations with just in time discipline.
This is a hybrid role which will involve attendance at the office in Fernhurst at least 2 days per week
We are open to discussing whether the role is full-time (40hrs per week) or part-time (32hours per week) and different working patterns.
Key responsibilities
• Sourcing and cost improvements
• Source all new packaging components (including outer cartons); lead negotiations, pricing, and terms each season.
• Build and maintain a robust supplier base; benchmark costs and drive continuous value improvement.
• Supplier and quality management
• Manage performance of all packaging suppliers, setting SLAs and resolving issues proactively.
• Approve styles/components and ensure specifications meet brand, quality, and sustainability standards.
• Packaging governance per product
• Review every product to confirm correct packaging combinations and fit-for-purpose protection and presentation.
• Partner with Merchandising, Ecommerce, and Creative to keep packaging aligned to brand and lifecycle stage.
• Planning, buying, and inventory control
• Forecast demand, plan, and buy packaging to a just in time model balancing availability and working capital.
• Manage stock across all stock locations prevent stockouts/overstocks.
• Changeovers and contingencies
• Execute packaging changes when components run out, ensuring compliant, brand-right substitutions.
• Digital accuracy and communication
• Audit the website to ensure packaging representation is accurate per product and season/lifecycle state.
• Maintain documentation: specs, suppliers, negotiated price files, MOQs/lead times, and packaging matrices.
• Communicate changes and timelines to stakeholders across Buying, Merchandising, Ecommerce, Stores, and 3PL.
Experience and skills
• 3+ years in packaging development, sourcing, or supply operations within retail, consumer, or luxury goods.
• Demonstrated success in multi-supplier management, seasonal negotiations, and JIT planning.
• Strong commercial acumen and data-driven forecasting.
• Excellent cross-functional communication; able to translate commercial, brand, and operational needs into action.
• Hands-on inventory planning, comfortable with packaging specs and QA/fit-for-purpose testing.
• Advantageous: experience with sustainable materials, ecom vs. store packaging optimization, and 3PL environments.

- Minimum 3 years in packaging development, sourcing, or supply operations within retail, consumer, or luxury goods
- Proven multi-supplier management and seasonal negotiation experience
- Experience with Just-In-Time planning and hands-on inventory forecasting and buying

- Ability to attend the Fernhurst office at least 2 days per week (hybrid working)
