About this opportunity:
We are looking for a Packet Core & Cloud Infrastructure SME to join our team. In this role, you will be at the intersection of telecom core network expertise and cloud platform engineering - responsible for the architecture, deployment, and operations of packet core systems running on virtualized and cloud-native infrastructures. You will play a critical part in ensuring resilient, scalable, and high-performing environments that power 4G/5G services at scale.
This is an opportunity to work in a highly technical, fast-paced environment alongside RAN, transport, IT, and vendor teams - driving innovation through automation, DevOps, and cloud-native transformation.
What you will do:
• Design and manage cloud infrastructure supporting Packet Core (EPC, 5G NSA & 5GC)• Deploy and support virtualized (VNF) and cloud-native (CNF) network functions• Manage cloud platforms (OpenStack, Kubernetes) for telecom workloads• Oversee infrastructure lifecycle: installation, upgrades, patching, and scaling• Ensure high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery (DR) readiness• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource optimization• Lead complex troubleshooting across network, compute, storage, and virtualization layers• Support integration of Packet Core nodes (MME, SGW, PGW, PCC, PCG, AMF, SMF, UPF, etc.)• Drive automation and DevOps practices (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code)• Monitor systems using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and CNOM• Ensure compliance with security policies, hardening, and best practices• Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and escalation handling
The skills you bring:
• 6-10+ years of experience in telecom core networks and cloud infrastructure• Solid understanding of 2G/3G/4G EPC and 5G Core architectures, including call flows, signaling, and interfaces• Protocol knowledge: GTP, Diameter, SCTP, PFCP, HTTP/2• Hands-on experience with OpenStack (preferred for telecom cloud) and Kubernetes (for CNFs)• Strong understanding of compute, storage, and networking in cloud environments, including virtualization and container orchestration• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to operate in 24/7 critical environments• Experience with Ericsson telco cloud platforms and exposure to 5G NSA & 5G SA deployments is a plus• Knowledge of network slicing and edge/cloud-native architectures• Familiarity with security, hardening, and compliance frameworks• Certifications preferred: Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD), OpenStack/VMware, or Ericsson vendor certifications• Strong ownership, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
