Upstate Veterinary Specialties is hiring an experienced Licensed Vet Tech or Veterinary Assistant for our Emergency Liaison position within our fast paced Emergency Department.
This role serves as the critical connection between patients, clients, and the medical team, ensuring clear communication and compassionate support during urgent and lifesaving moments.
What We’re Looking For:Experience & Education
- Required: Minimum of 2+ years veterinary experience (technician or assistant)
- Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology (preferred)

- Solid understanding of veterinary medicine and terminology
- Excellent interpersonal and client service skills

Sunday – Tuesday + every other Saturday: 5:45 PM – 6:15 AM
What You’ll Do- Present treatment estimates following doctor consultations
- Explain estimate ranges, obtain consents, and discuss medical risks
- Maintain and update hospital and outpatient charges daily
- Provide client updates on patient status and invoices
- Coordinate consultations, diagnostics, and interdepartmental communication
- Facilitate patient discharges and assist with visitations
- Serve as a liaison between the front desk and Emergency team
- Assist with treatments and task lists as needed
- Manage the emergency message center
- Ensure prescriptions are filled and refilled promptly
- Maintain internal tracking tools (including Mirro board updates)
- Prepare patients for discharge and assist with rounds
- Support clients through the euthanasia process with compassion and professionalism
