The Outcomes Analyst is responsible for collecting clinical outcomes data and performing analysis in support of clinical process improvement initiatives. This position gathers data on performance metrics to facilitate the review of program effectiveness. Additionally, the Outcomes analyst evaluates patient care data to ensure that care is provided in accordance with clinical guidelines and organizational standards.
Your Role in Action:
- Proficient in using statistical software (SPSS, PowerBI, Dashboards) to order, clean and evaluate a wide array of data types and to perform analyses according to analysis plans.
- Identifies Quality Measures for data pulling and tracking and develops syntax to the Data Coordinator for use of pulling data specific to this grant program.
- Proficient in reviewing and synthesizing mental health care literature, making recommendations, and drafting reports based on study findings.
- Assists in developing study methodology and appropriate statistical models, determining sample sizes, manipulating complex databases, and tracking and evaluating mental health care and outcomes.
- Collaborates with the leadership and clinical and management staff on development of outcome measures reflecting the value of Agency services.
- Effectively communicates findings both in writing and verbally.
- Provides leadership in developing and maintaining a framework for routine reporting of patient outcomes to Division staff.
- Assists in developing schedule for integrating measurement in clinical decision -making processes.
- Completes assigned reporting into SAMHSA Performance Accountability & Reporting System.
- Stays abreast of changes in database methods, processes of behavioral health care delivery, and current analytic methodologies, including cost effectiveness and comparative effectiveness study methods.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What qualifications will you need:
Education:
- Master’s degree with major course work in social science research methods. Coursework or demonstrated competence in descriptive and multivariate statistical techniques essential
Experience:
- Experienced health or mental health care professionals, with three (3) or more years of professional experience with program evaluation, outcomes management or data analysis in a health care environment preferred.
- Previous experience with extracting information from complex data bases is highly desirable.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Superior organizational and analytical abilities.
- Mathematics Ability: Able to understand and perform basic statistical reports including frequency distributions, reliability and validity tests, normal curve, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, regression techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Language Ability: Ability to read scientific and technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to prepare articles, abstracts, editorials, journals, manuals, and critiques. Ability to prepare and make comprehensive presentations
- Must have the ability to work collaboratively with other professional groups and possess the skill in preparing reports and recommendations for administrative purposes.
- Ability to prepare articles, abstracts, reports and professional presentations.
- Ability to provide visual representations of findings.

Skills Required
- Master's degree in social science research methods or related field
