Position Title: OT Solution Architect

McCain Foods is seeking a hands-on forward-thinking IT/OT Solution architect to join our global IT/OT team. You will play a key role in our efforts to redefine and transform our OT infrastructure and solutions for the future across 30+ plants distributed globally. You will help McCain ensure seamless integration of OT systems with IT systems that alignment with our business strategy and objectives.
Skills & Experience
Must Have
- 10 years working with industrial control systems / operations technology solutions
- 8+ years of strong hands-on experience into related software architecture and design as a Solution Architect or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience working with Rockwell FactoryTalk solution suite
- Working knowledge of cloud architectures, solution design, delivery and support for OT areas
- Working knowledge in Industrial Data Center within a Converged Plantwide Ethernet Architecture (CPwE)
- Familiarity with programming logic and a good understanding of various ways of integrating data between systems with API and Microservices.
- Experience in Manufacturing related IT/OT cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Knowledge of scripting in PowerShell, Go, Python and programing of PLCs and HMI apps
- Automation or Engineering Degree/Master coupled with 10 years plus demonstrated track record in chemical or pharma or food environment.
- Experience in defining and implementing security strategies and polices for OT environments.
- Understanding of ICS (Industrial Control Systems) policy and architecture standards
- Strong background in Risk Management and Analysis
- Strong OT Infrastructure knowledge (plant networks, servers, databases, OI (Operations Integration) communication etc.)
- Understanding of industrial networking concepts, technologies and protocols
- Understanding of typical manufacturing operations
- Understanding of OT cybersecurity requirements, solutions and practices
- Proficient in discussing backups, disaster recovery and business continuity
- Ability to communicate/present to senior leaders and technical staff at their level
- Knowledge of food processing, Manufacturing industry
- Certification in Industrial, Operational Technology and Cloud
Nice to Have
- Broad knowledge and experience working with IT and Digital systems, cloud technologies, web services and AI (Artificial Intelligence).
- Knowledge and experience of ITIL practices for service incidents, problem, and change management.
- Strong background in the development and implementation of new innovative automation solutions (robots, AGV's, automated storage and retrieval systems.
- Change management advocative.
- Experience in DevOps, SRE (Site reliability engineering) is an asset
- Training in ISA 62443, NIST would be an asset
- Working knowledge of operational data historians

Responsibilities
- OT Solution Design: Develop and implement architectural designs for OT systems, focusing on integrating with cloud platforms. Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
- Cloud Integration: Design and oversee the integration of OT systems with cloud services, including but not limited to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Utilize cloud-native technologies to enhance OT capabilities.
- Architecture Development: Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including system diagrams, data flow models, and integration points. Provide guidance on best practices and standards.
- Security Management: Ensure that OT and cloud integrations adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements. Implement robust security measures to protect critical infrastructure and data.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including IT, engineering, InfoSec and operations and deliver solutions that address business needs.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of OT systems within the cloud environment. Identify and resolve issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in OT and cloud technologies. Propose innovative solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and security.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage third-party vendors and tools used in the OT and cloud ecosystem. Ensure that vendor solutions align with architectural standards and project goals.
- Troubleshooting: Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving expertise for complex OT and cloud-related issues. Develop and implement remediation plans as needed.
- Compliance: Ensure that all OT systems and processes comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
