The ALLO OSP Technicians are dedicated to safely building, splicing, testing, and maintaining an all-fiber network in ALLO communities to provide maximum operating efficiency. ALLO OSP Techs understand how their role directly impacts ALLO growth and by meeting timely deliverables with high standards, they will ensure that customer needs and company goals can be met. ALLO OSP Techs will work closely with Leadership and Subject Matter Experts in their assigned content areas to stay current with procedures and processes.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Install/blow locate string line in underground conduit systems Use of motorized equipment to pull fiber cable/MSTs through underground conduit systems Manual excavation with shovels may be required Restore disturbed soil/ grass/landscaping Verify the accuracy and documents any discrepancies or fiber changes relating to the installation of string, MSTs, or cable Prepare all field reports relating to work accomplished accurately and timely Operate and maintain company owned vehicles, complete driver logs and vehicle documents Operate hydraulic aerial lifts (buckets) and climb ladders Splice all fiber counts to 864F in all enclosures Splice CO and PON cabinets Complete design verification in field Have familiarity of splice documentation and ability to edit Have familiarity of SmartSheets Set up of aerial and underground splice points to include taping, directional marking, grounding, cable management tray installation, hanging cases and securing in vault Have knowledge and familiarity of aerial and underground cable and MST installation Perform field and cabinet testing Perform complex troubleshooting with test equipment: power meter, VFL, traffic identifier Perform aerial maintenance Install cabinet splitters and perform CO cabling Provide detailed splicing/cable installation training Perform QA/QC of network facilities Coordinate and oversee vehicle, trailer, and equipment maintenance as needed Maintain clean driving record Locate fiber – complete Fiber Locating Course (market dependent) Work overtime as needed; may be required to work long hours during emergency situations including after-hours restorations Perform other duties as assignedEDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent EXPERIENCE: 1 year telecommunication experience preferred SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Service Excellence Oral communications Written communications Work with SmartSheets and Excel spreadsheets Manage multiple priorities Decision making Critical thinking High energy Engaging demeanor REQUIREMENTS: Raise objects up to 50 lbs Remain upright on feet for extended periods Remain stationary for extended periods Ability to communicate information Ability to crouch and crawl Move on foot up to 10 miles per day Ability to bend, kneel, and stand Ability to crawl in tight spaces Ability to ascend/descend a ladder Ability to carry tools and equipment Ability to operate a computer Ability to observe details at far range Ability to operate hand tools and equipment Ability to operate machinery Ability to work in outdoor weather Identify different colors DOT Physical/Certification Possess a valid driver's license Travel up to 50%

Skills Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year telecommunication experience
  • Ability to splice fiber (up to 864F) and perform CO and PON cabinet splicing
  • Operate and troubleshoot fiber test equipment (power meter, VFL, traffic identifier)
  • Familiarity with SmartSheets and Excel
  • Operate hydraulic aerial lifts (buckets), climb ladders, and perform aerial/underground cable installations
  • Perform locate work and complete Fiber Locating Course (market dependent)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, kneel, crawl, remain on feet for extended periods, and move up to 10 miles per day
  • Possess valid driver's license and maintain clean driving record; operate company vehicles and complete driver logs
  • DOT Physical/Certification
  • Perform QA/QC of network facilities and complete accurate field reporting
  • Ability to perform complex troubleshooting and network testing in field
