The Joint Replacement Program Coordinator supervises all aspects of and provides strategic direction for the Joint Replacement program. Provides staff support to the Orthopedic Leadership Committee. Develops and implements patient, staff and physician education and works to increase patient volume for the program. Also supervises the admission of these patients to the Orthopedic unit and throughout the surgery experience, provides on-call service, and provides post-surgery coordination of care. 

Responsibilities

1.   Program Management
a.   Provides individualized, appropriate, and compassionate patient care in collaboration with team members and utilizing a patient-specific plan. Works with patient and significant others to determine treatment and rehabilitation goals for desired outcomes. Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse patient developments in an effort to provide expedient nursing care.
b.   Monitors departmental performance by evaluating the quality of provided services, communicating with patients and family members regarding their health concerns, and recommending program revisions which address the needs of the patient and increase the quality of health care services.
c.   Develops required reports and maintains accurate records for use in evaluating departmental performance.
d.   Assists in recommending, developing, and coordinating the implementation of policies and procedures for all OLOL subsidiaries, and reviews the utilization and application of those procedures.

2.   Quality
a.   Develops, implements, and evaluates patient care orientation programs and assists in the development of hospital patient care standards in order to ensure that patients are provided with high quality health care services.
b.   Assists in the development, coordination, and monitoring of new departmental programs and services in an effort to increase program performance and identify ways to improve upon the quality and efficiency of health care service delivery.
c.   Investigates new techniques, practices, and equipment in an effort to identify ways of maximizing the quality and efficiency of health care services provided to patients.
d.   Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, and training sessions in an effort to share his/her own expertise with others and further the quality of education and personal growth provided to new personnel, volunteers, and interning students.
e.   Maintains own clinical expertise and assists nursing management in ensuring the demonstrated clinical compentency of staff members to deliver care in accordance with the identified and unique needs of each age specific population within area of specialization.

3.   Collaboration and Partnership
a.   Promotes and encourages the growth and development of staff members by encouraging their participation in approved continuing education activities such as professional conferences, seminars, and workshops. Advocates continuing education as a means of promoting the high quality services provided by all departmental personnel.
b.   Provides guidance and support to staff members, aids in removing performance barriers, and facilitates effective problem-solving among employees. Reviews departmental performance, identifies performance deficits, and implements prudent recommendations that promote departmental efficiency. Identifies, resolves, and facilitates the resolution of departmental problems, and encourages employees to voice ideas for better hospital operation, improved communication between staff members, and higher quality health care services.

4.   Other Duties As Assigned
a.   Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 5 years in clinical setting

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Licensure: 

  • Current and unrestricted Mississippi RN license
