Description

The Orthodontist Associate specializes in diagnosing and treating dental and facial irregularities using braces, aligners, and other orthodontic appliances. They develop personalized treatment plans to improve both function and aesthetics, working closely with patients and the dental team to support long-term oral health.

Essential Responsibilities:

  •  Diagnose orthodontic conditions and create customized treatment plans using clinical assessments, digital imaging, and patient consultation
  •  Provide orthodontic care to patients of all ages using braces (metal, ceramic), clear aligners, retainers, and other appliances
  •  Monitor treatment progress, adjust appliances as needed, and ensure optimal outcomes
  •  Educate patients and guardians on treatment options, oral hygiene, timelines, and post-treatment retention
  •  Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical documentation and progress notes in accordance with practice protocols
  •  Ensure a comfortable, safe, and positive experience for patients throughout treatment
  •  Collaborate with general dentists and other dental specialists to provide comprehensive patient care
  •  Adhere to clinical standards, infection control protocols, and HIPAA compliance
  •  Stay current with evolving orthodontic techniques, technologies, and treatment methodologies through continuing education
  •  Participate in team meetings, training, and occasional outreach events to promote the practice’s orthodontic services
  •  Mentor orthodontic assistants and support clinical excellence across the team
  •  Supervise and support dental assistants and hygienists during procedures
  •  Assist in maintaining clean and organized clinical areas
  •  Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, patient satisfaction, and case acceptance
  •  Perform other duties as assigned to support operations

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  •  DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school
  •  Completion of an accredited orthodontic residency program
  •  Current state dental license in good standing (and orthodontic specialty license if required)
  •  Clear communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children, teens, and families
  •  Strong diagnostic, clinical, and problem-solving abilities
  •  Proficiency with digital orthodontic technologies (e.g., iTero, Invisalign, digital charting) preferred
  •  Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative team environment
  •  Team members are expected to uphold the culture outlined in the SDB Handbook, with a focus on our core values and any additional responsibilities as defined
