Job Overview

As an Origination Manager, you will be the “deal shepherd” responsible for managing our commercial funnel. Our origination team is generating incredible momentum, and we need a commercially minded professional to step in, take the baton, and guide these high-value opportunities from early-stage discussions through contract execution and implementation.

Your mission is to maintain momentum, build trust with clients, and seamlessly coordinate internal technical, legal, and financial teams to get deals closed. To succeed, you should be just as comfortable on customer-facing calls as you are diving into a market model or reviewing a term sheet. If you are a continuous learner who wants deep mentorship, direct exposure to senior leadership, and the autonomy to manage complex, multi-stakeholder energy deals, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deal Shepherding & Momentum: Act as the commercial driver moving newly identified generation opportunities through the development and contracting pipeline

  • Client Responsibilities & Coordination: Serve as a highly responsive, trusted point of contact for utilities (IOUs, Munis, and Co-ops), developers, and large energy buyers

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate internal stakeholders across engineering, regulatory, finance, legal, and operations to ensure technical and commercial alignment

  • Market & Technical Navigation: Navigate RTO/ISO frameworks, power market fundamentals, and transmission interconnection processes to support project delivery

  • Commercial Support: Support the structuring, negotiation, and implementation of PPAs, tolling agreements, capacity agreements, and related commercial documents

  • Storytelling & Reporting: Synthesize complex commercial, technical, and regulatory data into clean, executive-level presentations and narratives for senior leadership

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of total experience, with at least 3 years of transferable experience in power markets, generation development, utility commercial operations, project execution, or energy infrastructure110000

  • Fundamental Power Market Literacy: A strong grasp of organized power markets and ISO/RTO frameworks, including interconnection and transmission processes

  • Commercial & Technical Curiosity: Working knowledge of utility-scale thermal generation technologies and operational characteristics

  • Relationship & People Ability: High emotional intelligence, strong technical writing skills, and a proven track record of managing multi-stakeholder relationships

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Energy Policy, Engineering, or a related field that blends analytical thinking with effective communication

Does your experience not meet all of our posted requirements? Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to positions unless they meet every listed requirement. At Mainspring, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, flexible, and collaborative environment, so if you want to help us transition the world to clean and affordable electricity, and don’t meet all posted requirements for a particular role, we’d still love to hear from you.
