About the Role
Provide specialized orientation and mobility (O&M) services to students with visual impairments across school and/or home settings. You'll support students in developing the skills needed to travel safely, efficiently, and independently within their school, home, and community environments. This role combines direct service, consultation, and collaboration with educational teams to ensure students can fully access their educational experience.

What You'll Do

  • Provide direct and consultative O&M services to students in school and/or home settings
  • Assess student mobility needs and develop individualized O&M goals and service plans
  • Teach safe travel skills, including orientation, route planning, and use of mobility devices (e.g., white cane)
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and related service providers to support student independence
  • Participate in ARD meetings and contribute to Present Levels, goals, and progress reporting
  • Maintain timely and compliant documentation of services and student progress
  • Adapt strategies to meet varying student needs, developmental levels, and environments
  • Support staff and families with training and recommendations related to visual impairment and mobility

What We're Looking For
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) certification
  • Texas Education Agency (TEA) certification in Visual Impairment
  • Valid Texas educator certificate or eligibility for TEA certification

Preferred:

  • Master's in special education or a related field
  • 2–5 years of experience working with students with visual impairments
  • Experience in school-based or pediatric settings
  • Strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills
  • Experience with IEP/ARD documentation systems

Pay Range

$44 - $54 per hour
