Position Summary
 
Looking for a great summer internship experience? Here’s your chance to gain valuable work experience with a leading health care provider. Martin's Point Health Care – an innovative, not-for-profit organization offering care and coverage to residents of Maine and beyond – is looking for talented summer interns to join our team.
The Organizational Development (OD) Summer Intern will support key OD and HR initiatives focused on improving manager resources, strengthening leader onboarding experiences, and enhancing organizational insights through employee survey reporting. This internship offers hands-on experience in knowledge management, leadership development, employee engagement reporting, and organizational effectiveness work.
The intern will partner closely with the OD team and collaborate across HR to support projects that improve tools, resources, and experiences for leaders and employees.
Job Description

Employees are expected to work consistently to demonstrate the mission, vision, and core values of the organization. 

Manager Resource Hub and Knowledge Management Support

  • Support the development of Manager Online Toolkit on Sharepoint.
  • Assist with building and organizing content using an established SharePoint resource hub framework.
  • Help develop and maintain supporting documents and knowledge management practices to ensure resources are easy to navigate and sustain.

Leadership and OD Resource Enhancements

  • Review, evaluate, and recommend enhancements to OD resources and leader development tools.
  • Support light content development and improvement efforts for initiatives such as the New Leader Launch (new leader onboarding experience) and the OD Library (a repository of OD interventions, tools, and activities).

Employee Survey Reporting and Analysis

  • Support reporting and analysis of Great Place to Work Trust Index survey results using the Emprising platform.
  • Assist in building department-level insights and reports to support HR Business Partners and leader consultations.
  • Help translate data into clear, usable summaries and visuals for internal audiences.

Cross-Functional Exposure and Learning

  • Participate in shadowing and partnership opportunities across HR and other business functions.
  • Support additional OD or learning-related projects as priorities evolve throughout the internship.

Position Qualifications

Education  

  • Currently enrolled in a two or four-year undergraduate degree program in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Psychology, Business, Communications, Learning & Development, or a related field.

Knowledge

  • General understanding of professional workplace expectations and organizational environments.
  • Familiarity with how information is organized and shared in digital tools (e.g., websites, shared drives, intranet platforms).
  • Coursework or interest in organizational development, HR, organizational psychology, business, or related fields preferred.
  • Familiarity with employee engagement surveys, onboarding practices, or leadership development concepts preferred.

Skills

  • Strong writing and editing skills, including the ability to organize information clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to work with data and summarize findings into clear takeaways.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce polished work.
  • Experience building, organizing, or maintaining digital resources (SharePoint, intranet pages, toolkits, etc.) preferred.
  • Intermediate Excel skills (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data cleanup) preferred.
  • Experience developing presentations or summaries for internal audiences preferred.

Abilities

  • Learns new tools and processes quickly.
  • Able to manage multiple assignments, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating with a team.
  • Applies critical thinking to improve or streamline content and resources and analyze data.
  • Handles sensitive information with discretion.
  • Able to translate complex information into user-friendly tools and resources preferred.
  • Identifies themes or insights from data and recommend improvements preferred.

This internship will begin on 5/26 and the duration of the internship program is 12 weeks. Please note that this is a hybrid working arrangement; some work will be done in our Portland offices and some remotely. Interns must live in Maine throughout the 12-week program.
