Position Summary

The Organisational Culture Assurance Director leads GSK’s enterprise Organisational Culture Assurance capability, providing independent assurance to senior leadership, the ARC and the Board on whether organisational behaviours, cultural conditions and leadership practices support effective risk management, sustainable performance towards GSK strategic objectives and organisational resilience.


The role is accountable for defining and delivering the Organisational Culture Assurance strategy, annual assurance plan, culture risk framework, methodology and quality standards. It combines targeted assurance reviews, behavioural analytics and AI-enabled insight generation to identify cultural and behavioural risk patterns across the organisation and translate them into meaningful enterprise-level insights.


As A&A’s subject matter expert on organisational culture, behavioural risk and behavioural assurance, the Director leads a specialist team and integrates behavioural risk insight into the wider A&A assurance programme, strengthening how audit teams assess the organisational factors that influence governance, control effectiveness, decision-making, escalation, accountability and performance.

 

Responsibilities

Assurance Strategy and Leadership

  • Develop and continuously evolve GSK's Organisational Culture Assurance strategy and operating model.
  • Establish risk-based methodologies and criteria for identifying Organisational Culture Assurance priorities.
  • Ensure Assurance coverage aligns with enterprise risks, strategic priorities, significant organisational change and emerging risks.
  • Define and maintain assurance methodologies that assess organisational behaviours, cultural conditions and behavioural risk factors. Establish effective working relationships with business stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the assurance outcomes. Ensure Assurance activities remain aligned with Internal Audit standards and emerging requirements relating to organisational behaviour and culture.

Organisation Culture Analytics and Insights

  • Lead the development of advanced Organisational Culture Assurance capabilities.
  • Own the strategic direction, governance and prioritisation of Organisational Culture Assurance dashboards, behavioural reporting products and enterprise behavioural risk indicators.
  • Oversee the creation of data-driven dashboards and reporting products for Audit teams, RMCBs, ExCom and the ARC.
  • Drive the use of AI-enabled analytical techniques and innovative approaches to identify behavioural patterns, emerging risks and cultural trends.
  • Ensure quantitative and qualitative data sources are integrated into assurance planning and reporting.
  • Translate large and complex datasets into meaningful and actionable leadership insights.

Organisational Culture Assurance Reviews


  • Oversee delivery of targeted Organisational Culture Assurance reviews in areas of heightened risk, concern or strategic importance.
  • Ensure reviews apply a consistent and evidence-based assurance methodology.
  • Provide quality oversight and accountability for all Organisational Culture Assurance outputs.
  • Ensure reports identify the organisational conditions that enable or inhibit effective performance and risk management.
  • Support escalation and reporting of significant behavioural risks and culture-related observations.

Enterprise Assurance Integration


  • Lead the integration of behavioural and cultural risk considerations into the wider A&A assurance framework.
  • Develop Organisational Culture Assurance tools, indicators and guidance for core audit teams.
  • Support audit teams in identifying behavioural factors that influence risk outcomes.
  • Drive increased consistency in how organisational behaviours are considered within assurance engagements.

Stakeholder Engagement and Influence


  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders across functions, business units and geographies.
  • Facilitate constructive discussion on sensitive organisational and behavioural issues.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on the relationship between organisational culture, behaviour, performance and risk.
  • Provide thematic culture, behavioural risk and organisational effectiveness insights to the Audit & Risk Committee, Executive Committee and Board.
  • Own the development and communication of Organisational Culture Assurance opinions and significant behavioural risk themes.

 

Assurance Independence


  • Maintain independence and objectivity by providing assurance, insight and advice while avoiding ownership of management remediation activities and corrective actions.
  • Lead, inspire and develop a multidisciplinary Organisational Culture Assurance team.
  • Build capability in behavioural assessment, coaching, interviewing, analytics and insight generation.
  • Drive a high-performance environment that promotes innovation, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Manage team resources, priorities and capability requirements in line with future strategic needs.
Qualifications/SkillsBasic Qualifications:
  • Significant experience within Internal Audit, Risk Management, Compliance, Human Resources, Organisational Development, Behavioural Risk or related disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk management and assurance principles.
  • Proven experience leading complex global assurance, transformation or organisational effectiveness programmes.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess organisational culture and behavioural risks at enterprise level.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand how local cultural norms, organisational context and ways of working influence, interact with and shape corporate culture, behaviours and risk outcomes.
  • Significant experience engaging, influencing and challenging senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret and synthesise large volumes of quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Experience leading data-driven assurance, analytics or insight programmes and translating complex information into executive and Board-level reporting
  • Strong leadership, coaching and organisational capability.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong business acumen and organisational awareness.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional audit qualification (CIA or equivalent).
  • Qualifications or practical expertise in behavioural science, organisational psychology, organisational effectiveness or people analytics.
  • Experience designing executive dashboards and analytical reporting products.
  • Experience applying AI-enabled analytics and advanced data analysis techniques.
  • Experience operating within heavily regulated environments.
  • Project management qualification or equivalent experience.

 

Work Location:
This role is UK based with the willingness and ability to travel internationally as required to support global assurance reviews and stakeholder engagement. GSK offers a hybrid working model, combining on-site and remote work.
