Position Overview:

The Order Processing Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and direct supervision over warehouse associates and order processing functions within the Distribution Center. This role oversees customer order assignment, fulfillment workflow, labor coordination, and daily operational performance to ensure customer orders are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time. The Supervisor serves as the critical link between customer order flow and warehouse fulfillment operations by coordinating labor resources, monitoring system workflows, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and supporting overall operational efficiency. This role requires strong leadership, warehouse systems knowledge, administrative accuracy, and the ability to adapt to changing operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Responsible for the overall performance and achievement of daily productivity requirements for assigned operational areas and teams.
  • Acts as a team builder who plans, staffs, directs, and ensures efficient operation of warehouse personnel.
  • Schedules staffing levels based on operational needs and workload demands.
  • Coordinates with Supervisors and Managers to adjust labor allocation and operational priorities as business demands change.
  • Maintains proactive communication with team members and management throughout the work shift.

Order Processing & Workflow Management

  • Utilize distribution software systems to wave, prioritize, and assign customer orders to warehouse associates and work teams based on shipping deadlines, order priority, and product availability.
  • Continuously monitor work queues, dashboards, and order assignment systems to maintain balanced and efficient workflow throughout the Distribution Center.
  • Ensure all orders are processed and released in accordance with Company SOPs to maintain inventory integrity and order accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor system, inventory, and order release issues while escalating more complex concerns to management or IT support when necessary.

Team Performance & Development

  • Provide regular oversight, coaching, feedback, and retraining as needed to improve team member performance.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence among warehouse associates.
  • Support onboarding and training efforts for new team members.
  • Maintain professional and courteous relationships while effectively leading and supervising employees.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, equipment procedures, housekeeping standards, and operational guidelines.
  • Promote a safe and organized warehouse environment.
  • Ensure work tasks are consistently performed according to established SOPs and quality standards.

Administrative & Reporting Functions

  • Accurately record and report daily operational achievements, including order release volume, team throughput, productivity metrics, and KPI performance.
  • Perform administrative functions related to warehouse operations, order fulfillment, and labor tracking.
  • Support order fulfillment activities through label printing, and other operational support tasks.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform various warehouse operational tasks and all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Key Requirements:

Experience

  • Minimum one to three years of direct warehouse experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment where small parcel and LTL/LT customer order processing occurs.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience managing warehouse associated preferred.
  • Experience coordinating workflow, labor resources, and order fulfillment operations highly preferred.

Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Technology

  • Extensive familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and distribution software highly preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with experience using email, Microsoft Office applications, and Excel for reporting and data tracking.
  • Proven ability to manage computer-based operational workflows and reporting functions.

Skills

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work with complex operational data.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload and manage shifting operational demands.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and backgrounds.
  • High energy level with a focus on achieving operational goals, productivity targets, and service expectations.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while supervising employees and addressing performance concerns.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role is physically active and requires regular movement throughout the warehouse during the shift.
  • Ability to move freely throughout warehouse and office environments.
  • Frequent standing and walking during work hours.
  • Significant periods of computer usage and administrative work. Ability to climb stairs and walk on concrete flooring. 
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and other physical movements.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Adequate vision and hearing to identify hazards, read reports, and communicate effectively.
  • Exposure to warehouse environments with temperature changes, machinery noise, operational movement, and mechanized material handling equipment.
