POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general direction of the designated Manager, responsible for operations, architecture, and performance of the SAP database landscapes. Will serve as the primary contact within the organization for the SAP Database environment. Will define and enforce standards related to SAP database administration. Will be responsible for proactively identifying opportunities to utilize the technology to solve technical and business problems.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary point of contact for all SAP database issues. Will work closely with infrastructure teams (servers, network, etc) to troubleshoot and resolve problems. Interface with the Basis team to effectively manage the workload related to the SAP Database environments. Actively manage the performance of the various SAP databases, including capacity planning and tuning. Coordinate with other Basis product leads to ensure software consistency across the SAP landscape. Will participate in the IT Change Management process and validate/approval all SAP database related changes. Keeps abreast of new developments and forecasts of future trends in the areas of database technology. Works with internal and external customers to understand their requirements in order to form a forward-thinking architectural vision for the infrastructure of the Company. Provide input on, and support new projects affecting the SAP database landscape. Engage and interface directly with SAP and Oracle as required for product support/questions. Defines solutions by identifying requirements and writing functional specifications; consults with technical subject matter experts. Advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits and impact on other business processes and system priorities; contributes to cost versus benefit measures. Performs related duties as assigned. Travel is estimated at 15%.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent. Normally requires a minimum of ten (7) years directly related and progressively responsible experience in leading architecture design and implementation. Must have experience with Oracle RAC, as well as multiple SAP implementation lifecycles and production SAP infrastructure operations. Requires experience with implementation, operating, and performance management of SAP systems on Oracle Databases. Experience with SAP RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and BPiM (Business Process/Interface Monitoring) tools a plus. Candidates should also have experience working with 3rd party 'bolt-on' applications including but not limited to Vendavo, PCM, and Informatica.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Must have experience installing and supporting Oracle RAC databases. Minimum 5 yrs SAP Basis experience, with multiple implementations. Experience with SAP TDMS a plus. Ability to foster innovation and "out of the box" thinking while ensuring practical applications Ability to direct the formulation, definition and documenting of system architecture and objectives for assigned projects Solid understanding of business requirements and ability to prepare architectural specifications from which applications will be designed Strong leadership skills Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Strong organizational skills Good analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply technology knowledge to identify appropriate solutions Good interpersonal skills; effective team player Excellent discovery and active listening skills Good relationship building skills Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Good group presentation skills Knowledge of computers to operative effectively with computer hardware such as general mainframe, midrange, network and desktop technologies; computer software includes application development lifecycle, MS Office Suite and Outlook
