From our very first years to our most recent advancements, we are driven to learn more, dig deeper, teach passionately and never rest. We are inventing better care, one discovery at a time.
The OR RN Intern starts integrating technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of the patient and family. The position assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness and provision of comfort. The role also provides direction, education and begins to assume leadership responsibilities at the unit level; delivers and accurately documents direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.
The OR RN Intern safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
*Schedule details*
The introduction of the internship would be Monday through Friday, 5 8-hour day shifts for the first few months. Upon completion, there is a transition internally to one of the downtown Operating Rooms (Main, CHoR, or Ambulatory). This is the clinical portion and we strive for schedules to remain on day shift, but could be subject to shift rotations as needed for precepting.
After those weeks, it can be either 4 10-hour or 5 8-hour M-F day shifts. No weekends.
There will be a week where the schedule is all off-shifts so there can be an exposure to trauma cases as well.
