WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Assists in the clean-up of surgical environment after a procedure, ensuring the operating room is cleaned and set up for turnover to the next procedure. Removes equipment from surgery room and follows proper procedure to dispose of contaminated equipment and supplies. Handles and disposes of sharps, biohazardous waste, regular trash, and contaminated linens according to procedures and policies.

Coordinates and reports information on patients and associated services.

Creates or revises unit documents or forms as deemed necessary by Perioperative Leadership. Revises and updates surgical schedule with changes and additions.

Notifies appropriate support team members of any malfunctions (equipment, fumes, noises, etc.) that occur during live surgical procedures.

Operates all functions of the telephones and handles phone communications to and from the OR during live surgical procedures.

Prepares for surgical procedures by obtaining appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment and appropriate records for specific surgical procedures; opens surgical supplies/equipment, cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization process and restocks pre-operative carts.

Transports patients, supplies, specimens, blood and equipment to and from other departments in a clinic or hospital.

Operates and cleans the autoclave; performs daily and weekly biological testing of autoclave units and checks high-level disinfection units; and changes chart paper, as required.

Maintains, monitors, and provides charts according to regulatory agencies such as OSHA, Board of Health and HFAP.
QUALIFICATIONS

2 Years Experience in Related Field Preferred
