We are seeking an experienced Fiber Line or Causticizing cycle Specialist that has experience with Cooking, Washing & Bleaching or TTA & CE controls, who will lead customer projects through all phases and to an exemplary conclusion.


The purpose of the job is to implement Cooking, Washing, Bleaching or Causticising control projects, from definition to start-up through configuration and commissioning work, ensuring that technical and quality targets are met. The Advanced Process Control Engineer’s role also includes building relationships with our customers and maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction.


In this position you will have the following responsibilities:


  • Act as a main technical interface for the customer and coordinate with the project team and engineering partners
  • Oversee all phases of the project, including Application, Definition and Engineering, Staging and Testing, Installation, and System Commissioning
  • Generate reports for project development, system performance, acceptance and post-project feedback.
  • Mentor and train other employees; assist Sales Managers and Project Managers as needed.
  • Provide feedback and input for continual improvement of our product line and processes


Valmet’s Advanced Process Control Group provides high level expert services to optimize our customer’s performance in terms of production, quality, cost and environmental impact.


To succeed in this role, you will need:


  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in an Engineering field, or an equivalent professional experience and competencies.
  •  A strong knowledge of the Fiber Line or Causticizing Process Areas and experience with advanced and regulatory controls & optimization.
  • Be able to show leadership skills, have strong troubleshooting abilities and/or have experience with process improvement.
  • We will be looking for someone who can show a high level of initiative, who can prioritize and multitask well, and who can build relationships with customers, co-workers, and international partners. 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field. 
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in French and/or Spanish is a plus.
  • Candidate must be willing and able to travel as needed, up to 50% of their time. Travel will typically be domestic in nature but may occasionally involve international destinations.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, or equivalent professional experience and competencies
