The Optics Process Engineer is responsible for for supporting a broad range of engineering activities, including the sustainment of existing products, the introduction of new products, and the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to meet both current and future operational needs in optics. A key focus of the role is to contribute to strategic productivity initiatives aimed at reducing reliance on labour-intensive manufacturing methods. This includes participating in the design, development, and deployment of automation solutions that enhance efficiency, consistency, and scalability within optics manufacturing operations.

 

This position reports to the Principal Optics Engineer and is part of the Optics Department located in Singapore and will be an on-site role.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead in First Pass Yield (FPY) Improvements activities to reduce rejects costs and maximize quality.
  • Lead in Customer Quality Improvement (CQI) and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform in developing Process Parameters, Jigs & Fixtures and Process Controls for new and current products.
  • Review new product design and provide constructive feedback to development team on manufacturability perspectives.
  • Lead in Engineering Change (EC) and Material Review Board (MRB) through working closely with Production and Advanced Engineering team to implement innovation solutions to improve productivity and quality.

 

 

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 5 years working experience for Diploma holders or 2 years for Degree holders in precision engineering or equivalent field in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in spherical glass lens manufacturing process
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD software for technical drawing

 

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Preferred working experience in C# programming and robotics
