Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional opticianry duties such as interpret and measure patient's Rx, prepares and verify all eyewear for delivery, maintain inventory control, and treatment and dispensing of eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Ability to perform all duties to fit and dispense eyeglasses and contact lenses
  • Fabricates lenses in layout, edging, grooving, photometers, hand edging and coating
  • Interprets patient's prescription and analyzes lenses for correct positioning and size into frame
  • Assists patients with the selection of frames that are proper in fit, style, color and that will meet the needs of the patient
  • Places order for optical prescriptions and supplies to lab with correct calculations. Verifies incoming orders to ensure ANSI standards are met or exceeded. Must have thorough knowledge of My Vision express, VSP and other insurance applications
  • Maintains inventory control and works within product-purchasing standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree at a state approved credited school, or a three-year apprenticeship program
  • Washington State license and/or American Board of Opticianry Certification, National Contact Lens Examiners Certification
  • 1+ years of experience in the field of opticianry

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $20 - $36 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.

Skills Required

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited school or three-year apprenticeship program
  • Washington State optician license and/or American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification; National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) certification
  • 1+ years of opticianry experience
