How You Will Contribute
- Develop differentiated portfolio positioning by leveraging market, customer, and competitive insights.
- Produce high-impact marketing content such as white papers, case studies, videos, and presentations tailored to target audiences.
- Strengthen sales enablement initiatives with tools, playbooks, and training materials to enhance field adoption and success.
- Collaborate with Product Line Management, R&D, Sales, and Marketing and Communications to align go-to-market strategies with corporate objectives.
- Drive planning and execution of Ciena’s presence at tradeshows, partner events, and industry conferences.
- Exhibit subject matter expertise in coherent optics, photonic line systems, and optical networking trends.
- Analyze campaign performance and market feedback to refine strategies and improve content effectiveness.
The Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marketing, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or technical Master’s) is a plus.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in product marketing, product management, or related roles within the optical networking or telecom industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of customer requirements and buying behaviors for optical networking solutions.
- Proven excellence in writing and storytelling, with the ability to craft meaningful content for diverse audiences, including buyers, partners, and industry influencers.
- Exceptional presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills; confident engaging with internal stakeholders and external audiences.
- Proficiency in marketing automation, CRM, and digital campaign tools (e.g., Marketo, HubSpot, Salesforce).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
Nice to Haves
- Experience working in a global, matrixed organization and collaborating across time zones.
- Familiarity with optical networking technologies such as coherent optics and photonic line systems.
- Previous involvement in planning and executing tradeshows, partner events, and industry conferences.
- Analytical skills to monitor campaign performance and provide actionable insights for improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to dynamic environments and prioritize competing tasks effectively.
- Understanding of industry trends and emerging technologies in optical networking.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (10–20%) for events, tradeshows, and customer meetings.
Pay Range
The salary range for this role in Ottawa is $101, 000 - $161, 500
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
