The base hourly rate for this position is $22.35

The Trim Saw Operator performs various duties, including, but not limited to, following written and verbal instructions and making decisions using good judgement based on prevailing conditions. The job requires the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and maintain written reports and records.

The job requires periodic, non-repetitive, manual lifting of weights that may be in excess of 50 pounds. The working position may be awkward or require turning, twisting and/or bending while lifting, requiring moderate physical agility. This job also requires the ability to climb stairs and ladders. The nature of the job requires moderate endurance, good manual dexterity and reflexes. The job requires that the employee be responsive to periodic emergency situations that may demand speed and accuracy.

DUTIES

Follow Job Safety Analyses, use safe work practices and report hazardous conditions at all times. Wear protective clothing and equipment as required. Keep equipment and area clean and orderly at all times, per assigned housekeeping schedule. Paint equipment as directed. Position tipple for removal of dried mat when automatic sequence is not in use. Remove rejected material before going through slitting saw. Remove good material before saw change. Reposition mats and actuate controls to start through slitter. Monitor operation of trim saw stop gate and operate it in the manual mode when required. Reset hold down rollers and saw arbor for thickness change. Remove defective slit material from cross cut feed belt Check quality of feed board by visual inspection. Monitor thickness, weight, squareness and dimensions and make adjustments as required to maintain product specifications. Monitor board temperature out of dryer and record hourly. Check size dimensions of cut products after set up change. Pull hot board and burnt corners and direct storage to specified area. Assist in clean out of jammed sheets in dryer and cooling section. Report number of mats processed, number and classification of rejected pieces. Report all equipment malfunctions to Supervisor as soon as they occur. Teach, advocate and use safe working practices at all times and report any hazardous conditions that are observed. Occasionally train inexperienced employees on the job. Perform other related duties as directed, including duties of other classification. The above sets forth the major work performed and serves the purpose of recording these items of work for job evaluation rating. It is understood that items of work peculiar to the job but not specifically listed shall be performed.
