Overview

The Vice President, Neuroscience Services is responsible for the overall strategic leadership of the neuroscience Institute. Develops and implements policies, procedures, budgets and marketing plans to support the continued growth and success of the neuroscience service line. Manages and directs a staff of employees involved in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. Develops and implements plans, policies, and procedures. This is a non-MD position. As an Institute leader, the leader would have strategic accountability for the System and operational accountability for acute care settings and physician practices. The leader orchestrates facility activity to ensure delivery of desired system results.

Strategic accountabilities include:

  • Understand and relate to business trends related to the Institute.
  • Keep Novant Health ahead of the curve regarding advancing technology and ability to extend treatment to community setting due to technology changes/advances.
  • Recommend global goals/strategies/objectives, and even tactics, specifically tied to needs and strategic opportunities of individual markets.
  • Partner with market Institute leaders to prioritize and develop supporting business plans for capital purchases and investment.
  • Partner with the clinical leadership provide both clinical and business expertise.
  • Provide education to leadership and team members related to strategic opportunities and best practice.
  • Lead annual and multi-year strategic planning process.
  • Support framework for system standardization and processes to enhance efficiencies, reduce waste and clinical variation.
  • Work with sourcing leadership to prioritize supply chain and utilization savings opportunities.
  • Develop structure within Institute to design and implement Quality and Safety initiatives.
  • Create sustainable compensation plans to ensure stability and growth of specialty programming.
  • Bring perspective on global regional and/or corporate strategy and identify "fit" of each market into the big picture.
  • Work alongside marketing and communications partnership to develop and enhance Neurosciences brand, appeal and reputational score.
  • Support acute facilities in preparation and facilitation of all accreditation reviews and certification processes.
  • Monitor competitive trends across the system and for the market (i.e., Volumes, Margins, IP/OP ratios, Market share, Benchmark data).
  • Work with Market Presidents and submarket leaders to identify growth opportunities and new business.
  • Create bidirectional opportunities and wins with leaders and teams within other Institutes.
  • Support leadership development of market leaders.
  • Lead annual budget planning and development.
  • Support Physician recruitment, as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate Degree, required.
  • Experience: 8 Years in Healthcare Administration, required.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements (required):
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing; possess knowledge of current leadership, management, and business concepts, and the ability to participate in developing and implementing organizational strategies to address opportunities to improve organizational performance.; possess the educational and experiential requirements of leadership; possess personal / professional / educational attributes as defined by federal, state, local law and regulation.
  • Coaching / counseling: develop job descriptions and personal learning plans; give and receive feedback; skill development in coaching and communication techniques; implementation of the competency, feedback, development, and progressive discipline processes. Mentors other leaders.
  • Resource Management: demonstrates skill development in interviews / selection process and team building, understanding of budgeting, staffing / scheduling, payroll and purchasing processes. Plans and provides for technical and human resource needs. Develops solid business plans for capital projects.
  • Continuous Improvement: understands and incorporates Continuous Improvement philosophy and methods; how to conduct and understand customer research. Utilizes appropriate tools.
  • Leadership development: Applies principles of adult learning and teaching methods / models, decision making techniques, and delegation process; skill development in giving presentations and facilitating teams / individuals.
  • Life safety: applies safety and infection control policies and procedures; equipment. Participates in life safety and disaster drills.
  • Equipment: knowledge and use of office equipment including personal computers and appropriate department-specific equipment.
  • Information systems: Knowledge of how to access and use the computer systems / information systems appropriate to role. Ability to access and interpret this data.
  • Content knowledge: Practices within field of Administration / Nursing or Allied Health; regulatory / governing standards; policies and procedures.
