About the job
The Red Hat Platform team, within IT, is looking for an IT Deliver Lead to join us for an unique role that will include aspects of project management, business analysis, and agile delivery. In this role, you will be a senior IT leader and be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects and products on a technical team. You'll help to envision, build, and launch the best possible product, on time, and on budget. To succeed in this role, you need to have solid experience with agile techniques, project management, business analysis, and have domain or technical knowledge in the area that you support.
As part of our team, you'll partner with IT associates and other teams within Red Hat to facilitate project delivery and motivate teams to achieve program goals. You'll create and improve team processes, coach on agile best practices, and communicate with stakeholders and senior management. You'll communicate to stakeholders at different levels of the organization to promote collaboration and coordination. You'll communicate status for multiple projects and monitor achievement of program milestones. As an IT Delivery Lead, you need to have very good communication, organization, negotiation, and consensus building skills. This role involves regular communication with leadership on status, risks, plans, and changes in technical strategy. Managing up, down and across the organization will be essential to success. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Act as a Delivery Lead for team projects and cross-functional projects on the Platform team
  • Provide overall leadership, guidance, and manage all aspects of a given program
  • Ensure that projects are correctly scoped and specified, delivered on time and on budget, and meet business and technical requirements
  • Provide excellent insight into new projects around dependencies or potential issues, influence the design of projects, and rapidly identify and resolve technical dependencies and risks
  • Lead IT project teams to communicate business priorities and identify appropriate solutions Negotiate innovative business solutions that satisfy customer needs, are consistent with architectural guidelines, and conform to security standards
  • Develop a deep understanding of products and vision to help guide development
  • Understand high-level technical architecture and be able to facilitate debate and guide decisions on appropriate solutions
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement through new processes and tools
  • Promote agile mindset throughout the organization
  • Effectively apply knowledge to projects, and enforce project standards and team norms
  • Provide coaching for team members to improve knowledge and delivery skills
  • Lead cross-functional meetings and foster teamwork; manage escalation and resolution of issues
  • Track progress against milestones, deadlines, and budget; manage the project's budget and financial reporting
  • Develop resourcing strategies to ensure optimum support for projects and for the day-to-day operational activities
  • Anticipate, manage, and resolve issues and act as a point of contact for projects
  • Develop detailed project plans and associated documentation for complex initiatives
  • Convey project strategy, status, direction, and changes to IT leadership and business stakeholders
  • Manage stakeholder communication and promote collaboration and coordination across broad categories of stakeholders, including technical, operational, and management associates in other Red Hat departments, as well as third parties
  • Build communication strategy and implement communication plans for informing all project stakeholders at regular intervals


What you will bring

  • Good understanding of application development best practices, Kubernetes or OpenShift, operators, and integration architecture
  • Experience managing a portfolio of large and complex projects
  • Experience with business analysis or product management
  • Experience with Scrum, Lean, XP, Kanban, and other agile development techniques
  • Solid knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
  • Ability to guide technical discussions to tangible action items for building delivery roadmap
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, business acumen, and industry knowledge
  • Ability to partner with multiple stakeholders and influence project decisions
  • Experience with stakeholder management and building relationships
  • Flexible, ability to work as part of a team, and committed to seeing projects through
  • Focused and ability to work under pressure, ambiguity, frequent change, or unpredictability
  • Excellent consulting skills and the ability to lead through influence
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organizational, customer service, and communication skills
  • Excellent facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Curiosity and ability to question experts across functional areas
  • Ability to organize and plan work with little direction
  • Bachelor's in computer science, information technology, management, or related field
  • 5+ years of project management or service delivery experience, including large-scale complex projects, large portfolios, or equivalent management experience
  • Domain expertise


The following will be considered a plus:

  • Experience on a custom application development team
  • Experience with open source technologies
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams
  • Project management certification or program management certification, including SAFe Scrum Master, PMP, PSM I, CSM, etc.
