How is this role important to our work:

All incoming mail for Blue Cross is received and disseminated in the Incoming Services Department. Documents are received via USPS mail, email and fax.

The ISC Specialist is responsible for organizing, opening, and preparing all incoming documents to be imaged and/or providing data entry of claims into Blue Cross' systems. In this role, the associate is identifying documents to ensure they are appropriately delivered to our downstream stakeholders accurately and timely.

A day in the life:

  • Opening mail using a letter opening machine and sorting documents into appropriate downstream categories.
  • Opening mail by hand when necessary
  • Identifying and sorting documents for prepping
  • Researching Blue Cross systems for member and group IDs in order to prepare documents for imaging
  • Completing coversheets to aid in the imaging of documents
  • Coding provider or members submitted claims in preparation for data capture
  • Data Entry of claims into Workflow Systems
  • Reviewing and making correction to documents in Vendor systems to allow the document to process per Blue Cross business rules
  • Process updates from exception reports by updating key information in our systems
  • Research and route images that may have fallen to an exception status or that have been misrouted
  • Preparing any payments (premium, provider reimbursements, FSA) received for distribution to our Accounts Receivable team
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Contribute to process improvements by suggestions for continuous improvement of departmental procedures
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of relevant information needed for procedures and applications
  • Acquire and maintain high accuracy and attention to detail while maintaining set departmental standards



Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of related experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • Must have above average data entry skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a quality focus.



Role Designation:
Onsite

Role designation definition: Teleworking is working full time remote. Hybrid is a combination of working onsite and remotely. Onsite is full-time onsite.
