The Role:


Morning Consult is seeking a highly motivated and strategic, yet hands-on, detail-oriented leader for our Head of IT Operations team in North America. This person will lead strategy, tech selection, deployment, IT policy, project management and end-user support solutions for Morning Consult’s IT Operations. This person will also partner with our Security, Engineering, Data Science and Product teams to ensure our infrastructure can support fast-paced & innovative development.


This role is based in our Washington, DC HQ, but will also manage the connectivity for our offices in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. This position requires a strong leader who can communicate effectively and develop trusted relationships at all levels. The ideal person for this role is flexible, self-motivated, collaborative and highly skilled at translating business requests into technical requirements. Delivering complex projects and solutions on time & on budget is essential for someone in this role.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Lead all IT Operations teams for Morning Consult by not only ensuring the continued functionality of our current IT environment but also informing future decisions on investments to meet our evolving business needs and goals
  • Partner with the AVP, Security to monitor, evaluate, implement and update the security of our IT environment
  • Review our current & future requirements to develop and implement solutions for the company’s technology needs
  • Collaborate with division stakeholders to identify and implement appropriate standards and opportunities for shared services and economies of scale
  • Ensure the quality of the local networks for all Morning Consult offices, making changes and updates where needed
  • Develop strong, collegial, proactive and customer-oriented IT team members and support their professional development
  • Review and update the IT portion of the Business Continuity Plan as needed
  • Ensure all IT, AV and printing equipment, software and services are functioning efficiently while identifying needs for upgrades and reconfigurations
  • Maintain an accurate inventory for all Morning Consult equipment
  • Manage assigned IT budget for accurate reporting and cost control
  • Manage IT service providers and vendor relationships
  • Partner with Procurement team for vendor contracts
  • Create effective, clear IT communications for the company’s end users
  • Manage our IT onboarding process to ensure our new employees have a clear understanding of how to navigate our environment, access to applications and the tech needed for their role
  • Manage Help Desk team to ensure all end-user issues are resolved effectively and efficiently
  • Manage multiple projects with different timelines and varying processes
  • Develop, design and project manage IT infrastructure for moves and new office spaces

Desired Skills:

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, IT management or relevant field with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in a growing organization managing entry to mid-level team members
  • Exceptional skills with Mac OS, Windows and Linux
  • Required experience managing a fully cloud-based IT setup, including UEM, SaaS platforms for a variety of applications, G Suite, communications, video conferencing, etc.
  • Required experience in the analysis, implementation, evaluation and management of IT tools, software and support providers
  • Experience in tech and/or startup environments preferred
  • Familiarity with software development and common web application technologies preferred
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Creative, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to convey complex technical topics to a variety of end-users quickly and effectively
  • Ability to comfortably present at the executive level
  • Strong customer service and solutions orientation, alongside strong experience building out a solid IT Operations plan that addresses not only the current state and needs of an organization but also considers future needs
  • Takes initiative to continually learn and enhance technical knowledge and skills
  • Ability to travel to Morning Consult sites in the US, as needed (up to 20%)
  • Willing to take feedback, learn and grow; an ethos of continuous self-improvement

  • Moves equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness and capacity to sit/stand for minimum periods of two hours at a time
  • Occasional early morning, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
