Position Overview:
This new role will create, develop and deploy an emerging Enterprise Growth System for the organization. The system - a set of tools, processes and governance will enable a way to identify, explore and decide on new growth opportunities in service of the Chief Growth Officer, members of the LT and select EVPs/SVPs (Growth Board). As a general athlete you must be able to think both strategically and drive execution. Humble, curious, roll-up-your sleeves self-starter with the ability to imagine boldly, communicate effectively, think critically, be entrepreneurial and navigate ambiguity.

  • Sets agenda and sequences work in high paced environment with high ambiguity
  • Build and iterate the process and approach to drive aligned decision making
  • Structures and supports the governance process - includes education, change management, decision making and coordination in partnership with the Growth System Director
  • Prioritizes key projects and management of critical issues to ensure attention and focus of the Growth Board and Growth leadership team. Partners with portfolio teams to ensure work gets done
  • Engage directly with key internal and external stakeholders, representing the team in a clear and compelling way and providing clarity that drives effective mobilization
  • Runs a reliable, sustainable operating cadence across the Growth Board. Coordinates strategic meetings, documentation and deliverables
  • Maintains consistent tools and "library" of information for teams to stay informed
  • Manages reference packet and prepares ahead of and for each meeting
  • Helps coordinate Input Coalition and category level mapping

About you:

  • 4-year or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience after graduate school in strategic roles or equivalent of 5+ years of strategic experience including assessing business strategies, leading advanced analysis and problem solving, and developing multi-year business strategies.
  • 2-3 years of prior experience with a top management or innovation consulting firm (McKinsey, Bain, BCG, etc.) or in a Fortune 100-level corporate strategy group.
  • Ability to solve complex problems through a systematic approach to structured problem solving such as problem disaggregation, data and competitive analysis, financial opportunity sizing, and consumer research.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to tell compelling business and result stories, including designing and facilitating key enrollment moments with leaders across the enterprise.
  • Ability to take the right partners at the right time, influence without authority, and to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Innate curiosity and desire to learn with a strong inclination to drive for results.
  • Desire to contribute to a team culture of bold strategic thinking and Target's values of Inclusivity, Connection and Drive.
  • Willingness to take risks, challenge the status quo, and work under ambiguous circumstances.
  • Day to day leadership of project work streams on strategy consulting-like engagements that identify and seek to harness enterprise or business unit growth opportunities.
  • Break down organizational problems into component parts which includes developing work plans to gather inputs, performing analysis, uncovering insights, and communicating findings in high impact ways through thoughtful coordination with the Principal Strategist (project leader).
  • Build relationships to collaborate cross-functionally and effectively influence without authority to drive business decisions and advance long-term strategic efforts.
  • Enable the coordination and collaboration with partners across other Insights, Strategy and Growth teams to maximize strategic impact of work.
  • Synthesize learnings into clear, concise business cases (with financials) for C-suite, board level presentations, and executive briefings
