Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist I to be based in Albuquerque, NM. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environmental business line.

This position is expected to begin January/February 2022.

Job Overview

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Assist with a variety of projects including data management, site investigations, and remediation.
  • Assist with gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data in both the field and office settings.
  • The field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil vapor sample collection.
  • Field activities also include geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories, excavation, and drilling companies.
  • The office activities will involve preparation of investigation reports.
  • Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.
  • Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.
  • Willingness/ability to travel and perform field work is required.
  • Candidates may be asked to submit a drug test, medical surveillance screening, and/or MVR (motor vehicle record) screening at the time of hire.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field of study
  • Due to the nature of work, a valid U.S Driver's license is required
  • Ability to travel up to 90% to various job sites within US
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and supervise advancement of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells
  • Ability to demonstrate a primary technical role in multiple site characterization, subsurface investigation and remediation projects at various client sites
  • Understand and assist with site conceptual models
  • Collect and evaluate environmental data in field and office settings
  • Prepare investigation reports and help coordinate preparation of drawings
  • Possesses technical report writing skills
  • Independent field work and leadership of field teams, including contractor oversight
  • Selected candidate will be required to complete 40 hour HAZWOPER training or annual refresher class, if needed
  • Selected Candidate will also receive First Aid/CPR training and AECOM specific training
  • Learn and develop a keen understanding of hazard recognition for environmental investigations and remediation projects.
