The Misfits Market procurement team is responsible for managing our incredible farm & vendor relationships, sourcing and purchasing. Working closely with our supply partners, the procurement team leads the charge at Misfits Market in fighting food waste not only at the farm level but throughout the rest of the food supply chain as well.  

We are looking to hire a passionate food professional to join the procurement team at Misfits Market. The Director, Produce will lead a mission driven team of procurement professionals as we continue to expand our network of growers. The Director, Produce will own all things produce from strategy to execution, including, but not limited to - sourcing strategy, assortment & seasonality planning, pricing and merchandising, inbound logistics optimization and more. 

You will:

• Lead our team of produce buyers in all aspects of our produce procurement
• Use commodity & industry knowledge further develop & lead the way on our strategy for sourcing across our fresh produce category
• Effectively communicate this vision and sourcing strategy to suppliers as well as internal teams
• Develop and foster positive working relationships with our grower partners, providing direction in the development of strategic plans aligned with the company's mission
• Coordinate closely with our logistics team on optimizing inbound freight and sourcing strategy 
• Collaborate with Operations, Merchandising, Product, and Quality teams to execute on our category goals and further develop our internal tools & systems
• Attend industry conferences to identify new trends, suppliers & opportunities

You are:

• 7+ years of procurement and sourcing experience
• In depth knowledge of the produce industry (experience in organics is a plus)
• Excellent communication skills, both oral & written
• A demonstrated leader 
• Passionate about a sustainable future for our food system
• Outgoing, extravert and a “go-getter”
• A fast learner with the ability to multitask and thrive under pressure
• Adaptable and solutions focused
• A team player above all
