The Senior Demand Planner will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to develop a broad understanding of the business and will analyze data to forecast demand across customer groups and/or regions. In addition, this position will generate reports to identify market trends and track key metrics that impact customer order behavior.

The goal of this position is to develop accurate forecasts that enable Adtran to provide a high service level to customers while minimizing inventory investment. The position requires communication up to the level of the executive team, proactive problem solving, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maximize forecast accuracy and develop long term plan to guide company demand projections.
  • Take a key role in the sales and operations planning process to develop best item level and product family projections, while utilizing customer data, POS, shipment history, upcoming promotions, and new product rollout data.
  • Work with Product Management and Sales Management to develop promotional forecasts and review these forecasts monthly.
  • Develop new product forecasts with Product Managers.
  • Interface with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and customers to incorporate all aspects of market intelligence into the forecasting environment.
  • Collaborate with customers on forecast and supply while building relationships with customer planning teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date system data and verify all information uploaded into ERP system.
  • Track and report forecast accuracy by item as well as account and make recommendations to improve the balance of supply and demand.
  • Facilitate monthly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process by leading cross functionally to develop a rolling 18 - 24 month forecast.
  • Support/contribute to S&OP meetings as well as engage in all continuous cycle S&OP activities.
  • Support company information requirements through completion of account forecasts, customer service reports and special requests as needed.
  • Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the company.


  • Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience using forecasting systems.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems.
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on the Microsoft Office suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and understand large volumes of data.
  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to grow and move up in the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to develop relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge or exposure to forecasting and forecast analysis techniques.


  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a telecommunications / networking product environment.
  • SAP experience.
  • CPIM or CSCP certification.
