Overview:
Two Barrels is looking for a Chief Information Security Officer. This position would need to be based out of Spokane WA, Austin TX, or Salt Lake City UT. Relocation assistance available for Spokane only. Depending on your network and ability to attract talent locally, we are also considering candidates who already live near our Austin TX or Salt Lake City UT offices, but we cannot offer relocation assistance to these cities.
As our Executive Information Security Officer, we would need you to take ownership of all things within the Information Security realm as well as the physical security realm as we have a lot of locations across the US with various access points into our hardware network.

Drive the entire mission of Privacy, Security, and Stability

Minimum Qualifications:

You can demonstrate how you've driven security directives at companies larger than 500-1000 employees
You can demonstrate how you've driven security within large scale web applications
You can demonstrate how you've driven security within large scale networks across many states

Preferred Qualifications:

You're a good human. And can drive Security as a Mindset without pissing off our entire workforce

Engineering is a team sport

Guthrie likens his role to a captain of a basketball team: “I’m on the court, but I also have leadership responsibilities,” he said. These days, the play he’s most excited about is a communications queue application project aimed at unifying customer service personnel into a single workflow. The efficient tool automates matching between clients and support staff, he said. In the team’s efforts to reimagine customer service, they must keep their eyes on the “ball”: customer data. “We now need to know why certain things happen,” Guthrie said. “This shapes our technology by pushing us to focus on observability.”

A day in the life of a software engineer

Yeck revels in the camaraderie at Two Barrels, which he finds to be rooted in the cadence of daily work: a connective morning stand-up meeting followed by intensive focus and occasional chats. “One fun way we experiment with alternative ideas is running hackathons. Our most recent hackathon involved a race to solve a series of cryptographic puzzles: Along the journey, we decoded a written ciphertext, debugged a program written in a language we’ve never used at work and eventually uncovered the password to a virtual machine set up by one of our colleagues,” Yeck recalled. “The balance between focusing on work and having fun as a team is one of the best parts of working here.”

It isn’t uncommon to take extra time on a project to explore various approaches in pursuit of a more performant and reliable solution. It’s empowering to be able to explore our tech interests without fear of missing a deadline.
