About This Job
The Application Support Engineer is an expert technical resource whose primary role is to prepare, implement, administrate, and troubleshoot a complex Core Banking Solutions. Additional key roles include configuring software, automate implementation activities to minimize manual intervention, monitor, and validate the application in all environments. Coordinate with development teams and vendors as necessary to report defects and validate received fixes. This position will perform a mix of operational and project-based work and be hands-on with cutting edge technologies.
Essential Functions
- Develops automation utilizing Puppet or other scripting tools to automate the delivery of the application into the environment or maintain the state of the environment as specified by the application
- Work with minimal supervision and able to support multiple Core Banking environments in a fast-paced environment
- Supports application installation, configuration, and progression through multiple environments including single sign on functionality, and configuring database and remote filesystem connectivity
- Communicate clearly with boundary partners (Other DevOps teams) to successfully deliver tasks, automations and/or support new features in pipeline
- Work in an environment to support the applications 24/7 and to function in an on-call rotation
- Maintains a pro-active approach to the monitoring of system health and functionality
- Adheres to established change management processes and standards including creation and tracking of change records, development of required support documentation or other documentation that enhances support or understanding of the application
- Partner with various departments to evaluate, select, implement, and support appropriate services, software, or hardware
- Administer and resolve application/server alerts and issues, provide updates, and perform root cause analysis

- Document system configurations, standards, and procedures; maintain and contribute to an existing Knowledge Base used by internal tech team
- Participate in Disaster Recovery and Incident Management plans where applicable, including periodic testing
- Comply with all company and departmental policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Hands-on experience with jBoss Enterprise Application Platform (or JBoss EAP)
- Linux operating system experience, command line scripting, and file access configuration
- Microsoft Data Platform / Microsoft SQL Server database experience
- Proficient in MS SQL development/scripting
- Coding and scripting with python, Bash & PowerShell
- Understanding of Middleware and API connection calls
- Practical experience with GIT integration via TFS
- Remediation of vulnerabilities identified by security scans
- Ability to research and troubleshoot independently
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and live environment debugging skills
- Ability to train and assist the user community to troubleshoot issues
- Practical experience and knowledge of Temenos Transact (T24), preferred
- Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

- Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Computer Science or other technical or engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- 7-10+ years of IT experience required
- DevOps experience is a plus
