Located in Naas, Co. Kildare, we are seeking an Operations Supervisor for our newly built Soil Wash Plant. The facility represents one of the most advanced construction and demolition (C&D) waste recovery operations in Ireland which is designed to recover high-quality recycled sand, soil and aggregate products.
The unique position of Operations Supervisor for the Wash Plant will oversee the end‑to‑end performance of soil recycling and processing in the wash plant ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant processing of contaminated soils into reusable materials. The role combines operational leadership, regulatory oversight, continuous improvement, and commercial awareness to maximise throughput, quality, and profitability while maintaining high environmental and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Processing Operations
  • Lead operational staff and daily operations of the soil washing plant, including feedstock intake, processing, water treatment, material separation, and product output.
  • Monitor wash plant performance metrics such as throughput, moisture content, recovery rates, and downtime.
  • Optimise equipment utilisation and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance with engineering teams in the wash plant.
  • Ensure consistent production of high quality recycled aggregates and sands that meet specification.
  • Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance
  • Maintain full compliance with environmental permits, waste regulations, and industry standards.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure all staff follow safe systems of work.
  • Oversee waste acceptance procedures, sampling protocols, and documentation for traceability

People Leadership
  • Manage, train, and develop plant operators and support staff in the wash plant.
  • Plan staffing levels, shift patterns, and resource allocation to meet operational targets in the wash plant.
  • Lead toolbox talks, performance reviews, and competency assessments in the wash plant
Process & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve wash plant efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance material recovery.
  • Work with technical teams to refine soil treatment recipes, water recycling processes, and contamination management.
  • Report on relevant performance KPIs, implement lean practices, root cause analysis, and corrective actions as well as support commercial teams with forecasting, production planning, and customer requirements
  • Manage budgets, operational costs, and procurement of consumables and spare parts in the wash plant.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential
  • Experience managing operations in waste management, recycling, aggregates, quarrying or similar heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of soil washing, site operations, material separation, or water treatment processes.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate and develop teams.
  • Competence in operational data analysis, reporting, and performance optimisation.

Desirable
  • Engineering, environmental science, or related technical background.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, plant automation, or process control.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH certification or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001, 9001, and 45001 systems.
  • Decisive, proactive, and solutions‑focused.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, outdoor industrial environment.
  • Commitment to sustainability and responsible resource management.
